There are two procedures used in nose surgery; your surgeon chooses the one that best fits your nose and goals.

Closed rhinoplasty

Incisions are made inside the nose, via the nostrils. No scars are visible afterwards — which is why this is often the best approach to begin with for optimal results.

Incisions are made on the tissue between the nostrils, just above the lip. This gives a better view of the nose, making it easier to work with the bone and cartilage; the scars are tiny and hardly noticeable.
